City Receives Award from Toastmasters International

On Thursday, April 26, 2012, Toastmasters International presented the Islanders Toastmasters Club the "Distinguished Corporate Sponsor Award recognizing the City of South Padre Island for enhancing employee engagement through continued support of Toastmasters communication and leadership programs.

Presenting the award to Mayor Pinkerton was Toastmaster District 55 Lt. Governor Bill Greenham and Regional Advisor Lark Doley. The "Distinguished Corporate Sponsor Award is the most prestigious award offered to corporations by Toastmasters.

The Islanders Toastmasters Club started as a city staff only club in June of 2010, and immediately proved to be a successful communication and leadership training tool for all City employees. In efforts to expand its benefits, the club was opened to the public in April 2011.
