Island Airport Shuttle

The Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport in conjunction with Valley Metro offers transportation from Brownsville and the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport to the City of Port Isabel. Passengers can then take the FREE transportation system "The WAVE" to cross the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway and arrive to the City of South Padre Island.



Valley Metro
The Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council provides public transportation in urbanized and non-urbanized areas of the lower Rio Grande Valley through its transit department, Valley Metro. Valley Metro operates routes in Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy Counties. The Brownsville to Port Isabel route is Route #50 which departs downtown Brownsville and includes stops at the Brownsville Airport, AMFELS, Port Isabel, and Laguna Vista Library. Island Airport Shuttle
Valley Metro has reduced the fare on its Island Airport Shuttle from the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport to just one dollar. This come as good news to the 50,000 passengers expected to ride the shuttle this year.

The buses leave frequently from in front of the Airport and take riders directly to Port Isabel where Island passengers change to the Island Wave, which takes them across the Queen Isabel Memorial Bridge to their Island destination.
